Minni or Minia

The origin of gotra Minni is from Rajput Chauhans. After converting themselves, they started their business as Gypsies. One day a Jain Chauhan seth was on his bullock-cart with his valuable goods. In the way dacoits met him and said, “Seth, Ram, Ram” Seth replied, “It’s wrong”. Then again decoits said, Seth replied, “It’s wrong”. In this way decoits asked 20 questions and the Seth replied that it was wrong. At last dacoits said, “Give me all your valuable”, then Seth replied, “Yes, It is correct. My business is to give and take. As per your order, I am ready to give you every thing of mineafter preparing a list. And you give your signature on it.” Dacoits thought that Seth is a foolish person. If he hands over every thing to us so simply, then there is no harm in writing.

Seth prepared a list in detail in his account book and the Dacoits made their signature on that paper of the account book. At last the question of a witness arose; but there was none to witness, except a wild cat, so decoit said, “If you agree, we mention the evidence of this wild cat.” The Seth agreed to the proposal and the transaction was completed.

Seth left all the belongings and returned home with his account book. After three years, One day the same dacoit came in the city to sell his looted goods. Seth caught hold the decoit and said, “Give me my whole money with interest” Dacoit refused to recognize the Seth, All the businessmen united and took him to the Hakim (the judicial in charge of the city). Seth produced the account book in evidence, and then the dacoit said, “Please ask him who his witness is?” Seth immediately said, “Minni” after listening this Dacoit immediately said, “This man is wrong so he says Minni to a wild cat.”

The Hakim came to know of the fact and decided the case in the favour of the Seth. From that day onwards the family of Seth named Mini or Minia.
