Navlakha


Navlakha is a sub-gotra of many gotras. Hence it is not clear whether it is a gotra or title. Shri Mangilal Bhutoria says that Bhutotia and Navlakha are brother gotras. Muni Shri Gyansundderji says that Navlakha is devotee of Tapagachh.

 

Navlakha Shah Vardhman – Singh (Pakistan)

           

He was the most Prominent person of Sindh Pradesh. He was impressed with the thoughts of Digambers. He founded a Swadhyay Mandal with the support of Mithumal Bhansali, Chahadmal Rakhecha, etc. Their thoughts were of Digambars but they were Swetamber dress. He had written ‘Vardhman Vachnika’ in V. 1707. The central place of their activities was the temple of Lord Parshvanath of Multan.

 

Navlakha Shri Ramdeo – Mewar

           

He was Pradhan of Mewar at the time of Maharana Kheta and Maharana Lakha. His son Sahan and Sarang were Ministers at the time of Maharana Kumbha.

 

Navlakha Seth Gulabchand – Ajimganj

           

Navlakha Harakchandji came to Ajimganj and opened his banking firm at Ajimganj. His son was Gulabchand. He was honourary Magistrate of Lalbagh. He founded ‘Rajevilla’ garden.

 

Navlakha Seth Durjandas – Sirsa

           

This family was of sirsa but had their business at Calcutta. Their business was of Jute. He declared that he will renounced the world and become a Jain monk, but he expired before 6 months of the date fixed. Before death he took Samadhi. His grand sons Dhanrajji, Chandanmal and grand daughter became Jain Monks, in Swetamber Terapanth Samudaya. All these three founded ‘Nav-Terapanth’ and established ‘Arham-Ashram’ at Dhronachal Doongar. Acharya Shri Vijay Indra Dinn Suri promoted Muni Chandamalji to the post of Acharya in V. 2051.
