The origin of gotra ‘Gadhaiya’ is already mentioned to have been in the gotra of Aadityanag.

Muni Shri Sohanlalji Maharaj

He was son of Gadhaiya Mathuradasji of Siyalkot district (Pakistan). He was born in V. 1906. He got Diksha at Amritsar in V. 1936 His teacher Dharmchandji Maharaj was much influenced by his abilities. He became Youvacharya in 1951 and Acharya in 1958. He was a great astrologer.

Gadhaiya Seth Manakchandji – Chandrapur

This family arrived Napur from Hoshiyarpur (Pakistan). Seth Manakchand was a Jeweler. He built a Jain teple at Bhadrawati near Chandrapur.

Gadhaiya Lala Narayanshah-Siyalkot

He was son of Lal Tindeshah. He was a famous banker of Siyalkot. He had business with the Royal Family.

Gadhaiya Lala Nathushah – Siyalkot

He was an important person of Jain samaj of Siyalkot. He remained president of Jain Samaj for 20 years.

Gadhaiya Lala NAginalaji – Siyalkot

He was secretary of Hindu-Sabha of Siyalkot. He founded Mahaveer Kanya Pathshala at Siyalkot.

Gadhaiya Lala Hiralalji – Lahore

He was a famous Advocate of Lahore. He was an active member of Amar Hostel, S.S. Jain Sabha, Punjab.

Gadhaiya Lala Faggushah Jammu-Kashmir

This family is a part of Siyalkot Gadhaiya family. On the request of Maharaja Gulabsinghji of Jammu Lala Mahushah came and settled at Jammu. HE was born in V.1919. He was President of Jain SAbha Jammu. He was a gold merchant.

Gadhaiya Lala Harichandji – Malerkotla (Punjab)

He was member of Malerkotla Council and the Municipal Board. He was court Assessor and Chaudhary of Jain Panchayat also. He was Treasurar of the Prphan House Malerkotla.

Gadhaiya Lala Motishah

Lala Motishah Gadhaiya was a popular person not only of his native place but for of the whole of Punjab. He had a lot of property in Siyalkot (Pakistan) and was one of the richest person of Siyalkot. At the time of partition of India-Pakistan he was the person who fought against the riotists and defeated them. His Kothi served as the main defending place of Siyalkot. He lost his entire property and even the younger brother Shri Khajanchilal in the tiots.

He and his family settled in Punjab and Delhi. He died in Delhi at the age of 79 years.

Gadhaiya Shri Jethmal Sardarshahar

He was resident of Sardarshahar. He left Sardarshahar and went to Benal in V. 1906. He started business of cotton cloth and earned a lot but in 1928 a thought of detachment from worldly desires rose in his mind and so he handed over his business to his son Shrichand and returned to Sardarshahar. He started a life of a monk while living in family. HE did not take part even in his grandson’s marriage. He remained in the city of Sardarshahar till death. He became a Terapanth Shravak.

Gadhaiya Seth Shrichand Sardarshahar

He was the only son of Shri Jethmal Gadhaiya. HE ws the founder of Terapanth Sabha of SArdarshahar. He was a strict follower of Jainism. He was against evil customs and backward conventions like the feast after the death, purdah-pratha, feast after penance, etc. He did the work to uniting the society all of his life. Looking to his great deeds Government wanted to honour him, but he refused the offer.

He expanded the business of his father, but he was known for his honesty. He had three sons named Udaichandji, Ganeshchandji and Vridhichandji, Shri Udaichandji became Jain monk along with his wife.

Gadhaiya Seth Ganeshchand Sardarshahar

He took to business with the East India Company and expanded his paternal business. He was the founder member of Bharat Chamber of Commerce. Once he also presided over the Swetamber Terapanth Mahasabha. He was also selected MLA of Bikaner State. He hd a seat earmarked in the Court of the Governor of Bengal. His brother Vridhichand was a member of Legislative Assembly of Bikaner State. Seth Vridhichand adopted Shri Nemichand son of Shri Ganeshchand.

Gadhaiya Seth Nemichand Sardarshahar

He also expanded his paternal business, and took interest in the social work and politics, like his parents. He was meber of Bikaner State Assembly. He was President of Jain Swetamber Terapanth Mahasabha Calcutta, Jain Shwetamber Terapanth 2nd centenary samaroh. Rajasthan state Anuvral Samiti, Jain Swetamber Terapanth Sabha Sardarshahar, and vice president of all India Bhaat Jain Mahamandal. He was honoured by the title of ‘Samaj-Ratna’ at the auspicious occasion of 2500th Nirvan Mahotsava of Lord Mahaveera. He established many social bodies and ran them.

He presided over all India Lord Mahaveera 2500th Nirvan Mahotsava at Hyderabad at that time he honoured by the title of ‘SAmaj-Bhushan’ He donated clothes to 750 Jai monks.

Gadhaiya Samaj  Bhushan Shri Sampatkumar

Shri sampatkumar continued his paternal business at Calcutta. As his parents he is doing a lot of social general public welfare works. He is doing a lot of social general public welfare works. He was the prime minister of the council of Bhagwan mahaveer  2500th Nirvan Mahotsav samiti. And the founder of 2600th janma shatapdi Samaroh. He was General Secretary of Cowstable of Calcutta, president of yarn and textile committee of Bharat commerce and Industries Founder of Taxtile merchant and Industries Chamber, and Moonga-patil Association of Manohardas Katra, Calcutta. He is the vice president of Terapanth Mahasabha. In this way he is connected with so many societies.

He was honoured with the title of “Samaj- Bhushan” by Bharat Jain Mahamandal at the time of Hyderabad session of 1977.

His wife Smt. Sunder Devi was the first Oswal lady of Sardarshahar who bycoted the Purdha She expired at the age of 69 after observing “Santhara” in 29th Aug. 2004.

Gadhaiya Shri Bahadurmal Mehta

Shri Bahadurmal was born in October 1883 at Jodhpur. He passed his B.A. examination from Allahabad University in 1905. He was the first Graduate among Oswal community in the former Jodhpur State. In 1906 he went under training in Law with the Chief Judge and joined service as Inspector of school, and promoted as Probationary Magistrate (Hakim) Judiciary in 1912. He was confirmed Hakim in 1913. Then he remain Hakim of Jodhpur, Merta, Sojat etc. He was elevated to the post of Judicial Superintendent cum commissioner and was placed at Balotra, Barmer (Malani) etc. HE died in a young age of 45 years in 1929.

His Highness Maharaja Shri Umedsinghji had this to say about him in his letter dated 25-04-1929. “Apart from the Judicial Member’s recommendation, I have had occasions to hear very good report about the deceased officer ad I should like to show due appreciation of his honesty and able services as a mark of personal favour.”

He lived was connected with the personal office of Sir Pratap and English office also. He had given the concept of Mahakamakhas.

Gadhaiya Shri Suresh Hastimal Chinchvad (Pune)

He is the Secretary of Chinchvad station Vyapari Association and General Secretary of Bhartiya Janata Party of Pimpri-Chinchvad Mahanagar and Jain Shravak Sang Cinchvad.

Gadhaiya Lala Motilal-Lahore

He started book publication in V.1960 at Lahore and then at Banaras. HE was the biggest publisher. He was the President of Atmaram Jain Sabha Conference, Gujranwala.

Gadhaiya Lala Santram – Ambala

He was the Pradhan of Jain SabhaPunjab, and honorary Magistrate of Ambala.

Gadhaiya Seth Manakchand – Nagpur

This family arrived at Nagpur from Hoshiyarpur (Pakistan). Seth Manakchandji was a Jeweller. He built a Jain temple of Lord Adinath at Bhadrawati Tirth.

Gadhaiya Lala Buteshah-Lahore

He was the jeweler of Maharana Ranjitsingh. E was the first member of Lahor Municipal Board.

Gadhia Shri Manakchand Hastimal

He was born on 22-01-1952 at Aasind and settled at Coimbtoor. He is the President of Coimbtoor Pawan Broker Association and Bhagwan Mahaveer public Hospital Samiti.

Gadhia Shri Amarchand khivraj-pali

He was born on 22-04-1925. He was vise president of Terapanth Mahasabha pali for last 20 years. He was president of jain sang pali for 4 years and secretary for 4 years. He has been active member of Terapanth school and collage of Ranavas for last 50 years. Now he is the president of Girls Education Society of Ranavas.

He was also president of Pali Cloth Merchant Association.

Mehta (Gadiya) Shri Govinmal – Jodhpur

Govindmal Mehta was the eldest son of shri Bahadurmal Mehta. He was born in 1909. His father passed away when he was quite young. He had to struggle hard. He passed L.L.B. From Luknow, in the year 1935 and started practicing Law. He was a dashing and social young man. He worked hard and soon became a popular Advocate. He practiced actively for about 57 years. He worked as Dy. Govt. Advocate for a few years. He died in 1994.

Mehta Gopalmal

He was the second son of Mehta Bahadurmal. He was a mining Engineer in Jodhpur Rajasthan state. He got President’s award for locating Uranium deposits. He worked as Asst. Director of Mines Jodhpur, Jaipur and Udaypur.

Mehta Madhavmal

Popularly Know as Dr. M.M. Mehta studied at Allahabad. He became a Professor from Havward. He was D.Lit. in Economics. He was the first Jodhpurian to go in U.N. services. He worked as Labour and Man power Adviser to all the ECAFE Countries and was stationed at Bangkok. Later on he was sent to several other countries (Ghana, Sudan, Malayesia, Burma etc.) He was a great scholar. He was tipped for Planning Commission also. He remained Director of Statistics Madhya Pradesh. He worked as Vice Chancellor Jodhpur University for some time. His wife Mrs. Ajeet Mehta was a very dynamic woman. Shri Madhavmal died in June 1981 His stay at United Nations was 18 years long.

Mehta Raghavmal – Jodhpur/Culcutta

R.M. Mehta is the youngest son of Shri Bahadurmal Mehta. He passed his Intermediate. B.Sc. all the three exams First class first. He studied at Banaras. Dr. Radhakrishnan was the Vice-Chancellor than, who acclaimed his brilliance. He got Govt. of India Scholarship and was sent to Manchestor. For prosecuting studies of M.Sc. Paper Technology. He was the first Indian to get that degree from that University. His wife also remained in England for three years. (1943-1946) Shri Radhavmal initially joined Dalmias. Later he became Director of Tribem Tissues Ltd. He is the first Indian to became the Managing Director of a British Copany. He remained there for 16 years. He is considered authority on Tissue paper technology and is a sougth after consultant the world over.

Mehta Shri Narendra Kumar – (N.K. Mehta)

He was born in 1933. He is the eldest son of Mehta Govindmal. He passed his LL.B. in 1955. Then he did his M.A. (English) he practiced Law. He joined the Education Department Govt.of Rajasthan. Working on various gazeetted posts in education. He is the first Oswal officer  in Jodhpur to have retired from this high posts in the Edu. Dept. of the Government. He was made incharge of the Legal cell of the Education Dept. Shri Mehta is an Educationist, an E.L.T. Expert, a writer of English and Hindi, a Humour poet, Playwrite and a Translator. He has written translated film scripts of about 130 education T.V. films telecast the world over through UGC (Door Darshan) programmes. Some of the films scripted by him have won high acclaim. He has translated a large no. of books. He has been a visiting faculty at Nakoda Commerce college and JNV University. Law faculty (Law Final Classes) He gave music performances at Jodhpur, Jaipur and Delhi he writes for Akashwani also. Popularly at Jodhpur known by his name Godisa, Shri Mehta is still active in his academic and cultural pursuits. He is the president of Humour Society of Jodhpur and a Patron of Anuradha Arts - A cultural society. He is member of Advisory commitice of Akashwani, Jodhpur.

Mehta Rajendra

He got his education at Jaswant College, Jodhpur. He passed his M.Sc. Physics then went to England. After remaining for 4 years at Scotland he joined a leading paper manufacturing company at Brazil (South America) in 1972 and he has been there ever since. At present he is working as director in Industrial Antomation with Smar. Hobby Music, Photography. Sons – Avi. Mehta and Ajay Mehta.

Gadhia Shri Sohanchand – Chennai

He is originally the resident of Jodhpur. He is actively in uniting the society and keenly interested in the welfare work of the society. He helped a lot in the connection of the information of the Adityanag Gotriya Choradia and sub-gotra Directly of Tamilnadu area.
