It is said that RathorKesav of Kotda had no son. Acharya Shri JaisinghSurienlighted him. He adopted his nephew who was offered to him in a Chhajala, so the childcalledChhajal, and gotra was named Chhajer.
It is also said
that Parmar King Jagmal of Sanchor had no son. After the blessings of the
Acharya he became father of a son. The name of child was Chhajhad, so gotra was
named Chhajed.
A hand-written book written in silver words was there in the library of Yati Shri MohanlaljiMaharaj of Suratnagar. Its name is ‘KalpsutraPrasasti’. It was written in V. 1547. This book was exhibited at the exhibition in the Literary Exhibition held at Ahmadabad. According to it, the pedigree of Aasthanji is as under :-

this deedShriUdhram became a very rich person of Khed Nagar. He built the
golden Chajja of the temple of Lord Parshvanath, so they named him Chhajed. He
also built a temple of Lord Shantinath. The idol of this temple was installed
by the Acharya Shri JinpatiSuri. In his family was Zhanzanji. He was a Minister
Baged was son of Zhanzanji. Baged was the richest person of Sanchor. He managed
a Sangh for Shatrunjaya. Singad was brother of Baged. Shri Singad became Jain
Acharya named JineshwarSuri. In the 16th generation was Rajsingh. He
was also Minister. Rajsinghji had written ‘Kalpa-Vrakash’ in golden words.
According
to ‘NaharLekhSangraha’ the original person of GotraChhajed was Shri Juthil. His
son was ChouhanKalu, the Minister of Raja Gadsee.
According
to UpkeshgachhPattavliGotraChhajed was created by the Acharya’s of Upkeshgachh.
AcharyaShriSidhsuri enlightened Rao KajalRathore at Shivgarh in V. 942 and
named his gotraChhajed.
It
is also said ‘hat in V.1215 Acharya ManidhariJinchandra’ Suri arrived in
GarhSivana at that time RathoreKajal s/o Dhandhal and grandson of Aaspal was
residing there. He daily used to go there for listening the discourse Kajal did
not believed in astonishments. One day he said to the Acharya, “people believe
that gold can be made by chemical proceedings. Is it correct?” Acharya gave his
consent, but Kajalrepled that he did not belive unless it is not proved. If you
prove it then he will be your disciple and act accordoing to your orders.”
Acharya said,” We are Jainmonks, we cannot do anything other than religious
work.
When
Kajal promised to be J if it is proved then; Acharya agreed to show the megic.
Acharya gave counseled powder and said,” If you will drop this powdwe on
anything, that will became gold next day morning.”
Kajal
dropped the powder on the Chhajas of Jain Temple, Kuldevi temple and his house.
Next day astonished to see that all the places where he dropped the powder were
of gold.
Kajal
went to the Acharya with his father and became Oswal Jain. Acharya named his
gotra “Chhahjer.”
According
to Jain JattMahodaya some Chhajer settled in village Chamadia and then went
elsewhere they named Chamad.
According
to Jain SampradayaShiksha few Chhajer started business of leather so named
Chamad.
When Chhajer
settled in village Runthia and then settla in other places then they named
Runthia.
According
to ‘NaharLekhSangraha’ the origin person of GotraChhajed was Shri Juthil. His
son was ChouhanKalu, the minister of Raja Gadsee.

He
was municipal member of Deragazikhan. He became the Treasurar of
Dehra-Ismilekhan. Meantime he looked the work of the Treasuraries of all the
municipalities of the Kishangarh State. He remain Honorary Magistrate for 21
years. HE was honoured with the title of ‘Rai-Sahib’ in 1906 and in 1911 at the
time title of ‘Rai-Bahadur’ He died in 1912.

He
was born in V. 1947. He was the son of Raibahadur Seth Lakshichandji. He was a
courtier of Kishangarh State. He was honorary Magistrate of Dehra Ismilekhan
for 15 years. The Viceroy made him Honorary Counciler of Sent John Ambulance in
1917, He was honoured with the title of ‘Rai-Sahib’ in 1923.

son was Laxmichandji. He was deputed the treasurer of Dera-Ismilekhan and
DEraGajikhan, both. He had been honouraryMagistrate of Dera-Ismilekhan for 21
years Maharaja Kishangarhhonourared him with the title of ‘Shah’. In V. 1963
Government of India honourared him with the title of ‘Raj-Sahib’. At the time
of ‘Delhi-Darbar’ in V. 1968 he was awarded the title of ‘Raj-Bahadur’. He
built a Dharmshala near Kishangarh railway station. His Son Gopichand was
Honorary Magistrate and treasurer. In V. 1979 he was honoured with the title of
‘Raj-Sahib by the Government of India.
